Performers scheduled for 2008 Grad Bash:
Rihanna
At 17, Robyn Rihanna Fenty went from island-dwelling schoolgirl to
Jay-Z protégée when he instantly signed her to the Def Jam family
after hearing a demo she made with an American producer vacationing
in her native Barbados. Her 2005 album Music of the Sun, featuring
Pon de Replay, was an infectious reggae track that drew from her
Caribbean roots. Her sophomore album, A Girl Like Me, which featured
the track SOS catapulted record sales above the 3.5 million mark.
Success is still pouring down on Rihanna. Her summer anthem Umbrella
(off her nearly platinum album Good Girl Gone Bad), spent seven
weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Rihanna also scored
five MTV Video Music Award nominations and performed live at the
show. Her other hits include Shut Up and Drive and Hate That I Love
You featuring Ne-Yo.
Hellogoodbye
If theres one thing to expect from Hellogoodbye, its the unexpected.
One day the band is sharing the stage with Beyoncéor at least a
cutout of Beyoncéand the next day, each membervocalist/guitarist
Forrest Kline, keyboardist Jesse Kurvink, bassist Marcus Cole and
drummer Chris Profetais dressed up as a different piece of fruit.
With all the energy and intensity of Tom Cruise jumping on Oprahs
couchminus all that pesky Scientology stuff about people living in
volcanoesHellogoodbye have spent the last two years perfecting their
unbridled live show and booty-shaking jams, which culminate in the
release of their debut album Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!,
featuring their hit single Here (In Your Arms).
